Descriptive Statistics

Can you give me a brief example of how I can routinely use descriptive statisticsin the work place. Include a description of work, the way in which I could calculate the statisticsand how the statistics are used in a work.

Descriptive statistics are used to describe the basic features of the data such as mean, median, mode, trends etc. They provide simple summaries about the sample. Together with some simple graphical analysis they can provide a good tool as a starting point for quantitative analysis.
